[TrackChasers] Don's list
- Thanks to list member Don McAuley for taking the time to assemble his track
list. We now have our first Canadian list on the trackchaser.com site.
Looking over Don's tracks I noted an interesting statistic: only 7 of his 22
Canadian tracks are active. From this statement I believe one of 2
conclusions can be drawn:
(a) Canadian tracks have an unusually high attrition rate, or (b) Don is
really old. Now I'm not trying to imply that the latter is true, but I think
Don ranks a close second to Pappy Hough for highest percentage of defunct,
home country tracks.
With that I think I've been permanently banned from Winnipeg!
Not only are you an excellent webmaster, trackchaser and friend but an
astute observer of the nuances of life. Until this moment I had been relying
on the cryogenic effect of winters in Canada to belie the obvious
encroachment of age. Now that you have unearthed my secret I guess I can
come out of the closet...err lets say, come clean. You are absolutely right,
I'm old. But hey, at least I've got ALL MY HAIR. Besides, being a close
second to Pappy in anything is an honor in itself.
By the way you are welcome in Winnipeg anytime between Nov 30 and March 1.
You may already be aware of this but Wissota has changed their sprint
schedule again. The races at Jamestown and Glyndon on June 1&2 have been
moved to June 15&16.
With temps around 20below lately there should be some ice racing around here
somewhere. I missed a chance to see one right here in town on a pond in one
of the industrial parks. I saw a report about it on TV of all things and
they mentioned that they would have three more successive weeks of racing.
What they failed to mention was that they would be at different locations
outside the city. So when I found the right pond in the right park I found
the track but no racing......

It must be the size of my brain that's pushing the hair out, or else it
can't grow on rocks, one or the other. Besides, I have all my hair too, Don.
I keep most of it in a shoebox under my bed. But seriously, it was a
pleasure giving you a page on the web site. Keep up the good work with
