2013 TrackChaser Week 33 Summary
(Weekly Listserve Update #138) Another hugely successful week for members of the group, as we added 42 new track visits, all from 2013. This included ten active members and in addition Roland reported new tracks for the year from three of our Project Drivers.
Andy Sivi checked in for his first new tracks of 2013. Roland also reported first's for 2013 for Mario Andretti and for Daved Brabham. There are now 39 on the board for this year. Great to hear from Andy.
Jeff Sands celebrated his earning full group membership status the previous week by taking an entire week off and racking up ten more new tracks by using a well-planned combination of multiple midweek figure 8 races, multiple doubles, multiple events with two tracks at one location, and multiple afternoon events. He even found time for a concert but at last report left work sick with possible food poisoning from a suspected bad burger.
Edward Corrado crossed paths with Vince, Mike, and Jeff during the weekend as he works on a personal goal of seeing all the "majors" in Pennsylvania. Edward had one of his biggest weekends ever (maybe his biggest), with seven new tracks, also using multiple tracks at a location combos as well as afternoon/evening doubles.
Driving great Bing Metz checked in after a Saturday trip to Winchester, VA and along with that track, reported four other new tracks from the past four months.
Mike "No Nickname Needed" Knappenberger concentrated on helping Jeff while skipping a new Ohio track Sunday to meet up with Edward, and they were all rewarded with an unexpected bonus track. Mike still had four new tracks.
Vince Sadowski used his last full week in PA wisely and tried one of the fair figure 8's for the first time and found it very entertaining. He also hooked up with Jeff to share the experience together. They are not all as good as the JM Shows, as Vince will probably find out tonight.
Racer and group Project Driver Jack Brabham is currently rideless and spent some time watching his son race in England, visiting three tracks previously not on his track list.
Dave Garrison crawled out of his basement project and added two new tracks in Kentucky, and added there is nothing he wishes to say about his experiences at either of them other than that he was there. The aforementioned Andy Sivi traveled all the way to California to visit his first two new tracks of the year. And Roland Vanden Eynde had plans go awry but still managed to see new racing in both Italy and his home base Belgium.
Single new track visits were by John Moore in Georgia, putting him back on top in that state; Chris Tyrrel in New York; and the two project drivers reported by Roland: Mario Andretti in Texas and Narain Karthikeyan in Germany.
Also glad to report that Bruce and Pat Eckel sent their major furniture from PA to IN in advance of their move. Patsy said she sure hopes they enjoy Indiana, because after the buying, selling, moving process, she is never moving again. I'm pretty sure they are going to like it there.
The most amazing stat from the past week is that Vince is the 12th person from the group to visit at least 20 new tracks this year, and we are still in August. Last year it was only seven for the entire year.
Tracks were added on five different days, Wednesday through Sunday.
New locations visited for the first time were Lucky 7, KY and Breisem-Kumtich, BEL. Additional new tracks were added for the first time at Muddy Run, PA (road course), and Atlanta Motor Speedway (mixed road course).
Italy made it 14 different countries for the group so far in 2013.
New track visits were added on five days this past week, Wednesday through Sunday. No new locations or tracks were added, as all the new track visits were at tracks already in the database.
The streak of someone visiting a new track is still in tact for the 33rd straight week of this year. All 42 visits added were from 2013. The total number of new track visits for this year are now at 541. We should top last year's total in September. But that's not enough, we want more!
Three TrackChasers already have new tracks in the books for next week.
