A new track for me... (LAVILTRIE, QUEBEC 3rd FEB )

Originally I had no plans to go racing this weekend as my daughter Carla, who now lives in Texas was paying me a visit. I'd thought that the CMRC ice races at St Sulpice, near to Montreal, Quebec, (which I attended last year) were going to be on, but had decided to give them a miss.

At about the same time I heard , that for this year, the venue had been re-located to nearby Laviltrie, Carla told me she'd like to visit Montreal. So, "an hour or two at the races" , was added to our itinerary. After window shopping along down town St Catherine Street in the morning we headed out to the track, arriving at 2-00pm in time for the scheduled car racing which was part of the weekend event that included ATV's and motorcycle speedway. The three heats , around a course of approx , one mile, were qualifiers for Sundays big races and consisted of some " top quality" ice racing equipement . Following the cars were the bikes, which have got to be one of the scariest forms of racing I've seen. After a warm up in the food tent , our day out, ended with a trip to the Casino De Montreal ( located beside the Circuit Jaques Villeneuve ) followed by an excellent buffet supper at the La Stanza on Boul Marcel Lauren.

Look for a figure 8 race to take place at the Big Butler Fair (Prospect,
PA) over the Fourth of July week this summer. One of the heads at the
Butler Farm Show filled me in on this recently. Butler Farm Show has
held figure 8 races for the last handful of years. These are NOT the
same locations, but are only 5 miles apart.

The website is is www.bigbutlerfair.com but the schedule of events is
not posted nor on JM Productions site as of yet.

I keep forgetting to post Clinton County Fairground Speedway's website
URL. Because of the various promoters that are in and out of the

                    all the time.

I believe this one was started last season. I came across it, then lost
the link and could find it nowhere. I noticed it wasn't posted on
                    neither Will's nor Allan's sites.
