I've been doing research since 1978/79.  I thought it was SO neat when ancestry came along and all this electronic help became available.  I made the mistake of putting info on rootsweb.com and then discovered that part of it is not quite right.  Then I could not figure out how to get back to it to make corrections.  When I finally did, I realized that what I had put out there had been replicated many, many times.  So even from my own work folks have copied incorrect information.
I don't trust ANY information on ancestry if I can't verify it.  And so much of what is out there is wrong.  I think of it as being a database of suggestions...maybe something that will give me a hint of where to start doing real research.
I have never put anything directly on ancestry - but I see that those who copied some of the information from me have put it out there.  I cringe when I see it.

NOOOO!!!!  And pleae do not put anything I give you on Ancestry.. I do not believe anybody of any organization should use my info for montetary gain.  Ancestry is nothing more than a pariah on us.
Where did you find your information as I hope it was not on Ancestry.
