Re: Best towboat viewing area in Chicagoland area
- Thank you for the towboat watching areas in the Chicagoland area, I
have a funny feeling that the area in Joliet that
another person photograph at, might be the same area I have
photograph which is Bicentennical park and Bluff Plaza park. It
is on the west side of the Des Plaines River south of Cass St and
cross from the Joliet PD and Harrah's casino.
Few places that I have visited for this purpose were the bridge/bike
path on Romeo rd which cause my friend & I to be
questioned by the Romeoville Police and then later visited by
Homeland Security at work.
The bridge on Lemont rd, it is a better place to photograph
trains, I have photographed towboats there.
I have check the forest preserve on the north of the Cal-Sag river
in the Palos/Sag valley forest preserve, I found there to
be many trees. I have not try the preserve south of the channel.
The other place I would check out is Lake Katherine Natue Preserve &
maybe Alsip boat ramp. On the Illinois River there are
a lot good places to photograph the towboats, but on the Shipping
canal & Cal-sag there seem to be a lot less.
