RE: [TopHive] Bar width
- Hey Dennis
My top bars are 1-1/4. As the propolis builds up on the sides of the bars
they end up spaced a little bit farther apart. I use the same size bars on
the entre hive, with no spacers.
You can see what Michael Bush does on the foundationless frames he uses at
Best of luck,

Subject: [TopHive] Bar width
What width bars is everyone using? I have heard everything from 1 1/4 to 1
3/4. Is anyone using full frames in the square type hives with no
foundation? If so, can you use an extractor or do you crush and strain?
Do you have your bars tight against each other or use spacers to get the
final width? So many questions, and who knows what is the right answer.
