This one-hour online session begins at 2:00 p.m. (EST) and will explain the federal laws governing 501(c)(3) lobbying, including how to calculate your lobbying limits under the insubstantial part test and the 501(h) expenditure test, definitions for direct and grassroots lobbying, exemptions to the definition of lobbying and the application of these rules to the ballot measure activities.

Ballot Measure Advocacy (3/29/12)
This one-hour online session begins at 2:00 p.m. (EST) and will discuss how federal tax law, which regulates the amount of lobbying a 501(c)(3) can engage in, interacts with state ballot measure disclosure laws. Increasingly, tax-exempt organizations are on the front lines of ballot measure campaigns. In promoting their policy agendas, these groups need to understand the laws governing initiatives and referenda. This webinar will answer questions like: May a 501(c)(3) group endorse or oppose a ballot measure? May a 501(c)(3) organization contribute money to a ballot measure campaign? How may a 501(c)(3) organization work in a coalition with a 501(c)(4) or PAC on an initiative? The session
