- Perhaps because British actors are better at "costume dramas" than American ones?Or, in the case of LOTR, because JRRT was British his language sounds better with a British accent?(Of course, there is no such thing as a "British" accent; people in the Thames Valley don't speak the same way as people in Yorkshire do, and neither speaks the way Scots or Welsh do. And even within Scotland, Glasgow and Edenborough sound very different.)
