A Room where Sri Bhagavan Ramana Maharshi's Forty Verses on Realityis studied. Also known as Forty Verses on Existence, the poem and title is extremely difficult to translate into English.
In Tamil the poem is called Ulladu Narpadu. 'Ulladu' is from 'uLLam' which has a host of meanings. That which is, Deep inside, Deep Within, Truth, Heart, The Very Core of Existence.
Robert Butler has written a commentary on the grammatical structure of the Tamil poem; thereby using the work as a means by which a knowledge of literary Tamil can be acquired.
It's hoped that devotees who know nothing about Tamil will be able to study the work in this list and the New Forum alongside those who have knowledge of Classical Tamil; members who know are more than happy to explain to members who don't.
We all began at the beginning ;)
Front Plate: Grateful acknowledgment to Sri Ramanasramam for use of the Facsimile of the Tamil Benedictory Verses in “The Works of Bhagavan Sri Ramana Maharshi in His Own Handwriting".
The translation of the verse is by Robert Butler.
