I think 20,000 is doable ;)
Oh yes, Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to everyone. Your christmas present will be at the end of the e-mail (I don't remember seeing it on the net anywhere so I started the process myself) but my own 2018 round up (well the Who part anyway, I'll ignore the health issues)...
LOVED season 11, absolutely fell in love with Jodie as the Doctor and would follow her anywhere in the universe!
I realised I was so far behind on Big Finish... that I went back to the beginning and started again! If you're on twitter, my random jottings on everything up to and including "100" (tonight's listen) are on my Who themed twitter account @NitPickedWho. The original plan had been to do a blog that went with the account, that'll start next month :) Oh and I am doing ALL of the Who releases... and dalek empire, cybermen, gallifrey.... basically the account is the mother of all audio marathons! It won't include the Benny audios though, too awkward flitting between audios and books to keep track of what's going on.
And if anyone wants it..... https://drive.google.com/open?id=15Fmv1yZoUf8MYAVacjATV0jBOLHgCUUB
Volumes 2 through to about 20 will eventually follow, I've actually got a lot more "bits" scanned in already BUT I've been doing things in a very haphazard order thanks to a collapsing bookcase, a chaotic housemove and my general inability to be logical. But if people want, as and when other volumes are put together they will go up.
Oh yes, I've also just purchased a huge stack of IDW and Titan comics to keep me occupied and I plan to reread all the DWM strips from 8th Doctor onwards on my way to and from work in 2019.

We met him at a smallish comicon thing in late 2017. He didn't appear particularly happy to be there. We met Colin Baker at a similar place earlier that year and he appeared really grumpy!I probably wont be listening to any Bennie audios.. it sounds like a Russian Roulette as to whether you'd finish it high in the sky or sobbing in a pillow!I see the Talbot Samba message count has just gone past the 19600 mark. We never did quite make the 20,000 leagues mark!Ian

I started listening at the very beginning, diving into a few sub-series along the way. Chimes of Midnight is good, as is The One Doctor. Colin Baker really shines in his audios; the all do, really. Peter Davison is a little hard to get used to because he and his companions' voices have aged, as has Bonnie Langford's. Sophie Aldred holds up incredibly well, however, as does Nicola.Peri and the Piscon Paradox is probably top of my list for a first timer more familiar with the show than the audios. The Benny Summerfield audios are also top notch, although the first series gets VERY dark about halfway through - to be honest, there are really only two extremes for the Benny audios - humorous or depressingly dark.I've only listened to the first Dalek Empire series, which is also well done, and doesn't require any real Doctor Who continuity knowledge. I just finished Spare Parts, which does an incredible job of capturing the original Mondas Cybermen. Very, very creepy.Another good one is Holy Terror - excellent story, and it features Frobisher the penguin! His Brooklyn accent is a little dodgy at times, but no worse than many of the Big Finish American accent attempts.Flip-Flop is remarkably cerebral, concerning aspects of time travel rarely actually visited in the series.I have yet to listen to one that felt like a waste of time.T_O"Always apart, never a part."On Monday, December 31, 2018, 9:57:41 AM MST, general_bod@... That was one of the 'top rated' ones I bought years ago. Chimes Of Midnight, Spare Parts, Jubilee, The One Doctor spring to mind.
I also began buying the BBC Tom Baker ones when he first began doing them, but found them pretty staid stuff.

"Spare Parts", which I'm listening to right now, is very good. - << Previous post in topic Next post in topic >>
