    What about making a separate square of black cloth that can be stenciled on permanently, and then stitch that to the shirts? Then you could remove it later

      What about making a separate square of black cloth that can be stenciled on
      permanently, and then stitch that to the shirts? Then you could remove it
      later and reuse the shirts for something else, plus you've got the stenciled
      squares if you ever needed them again. I did this with American flags on chambray
      shirts. It worked well, and black fabric should be fairly easy to match up to
      the black color of the shirts.
