        Hey Kathy-
I live in VT and can relate to the lack of employment, especially as a costume designer.
What I've done is split my time, by day I'm a fitting spec diva for an outdoors apparel
company. Think snowboards. And by night I design costumes (usually four shows a year)
for various theatre groups. The technical design/fit specialist keeps my patterning, fitting
and organizational skills in check and the designing keeps my creative soul alive. That
said there are a some great little theatres in Boston. The Dorset Theatre Festival Dorset
VT puts out a directory (updated yearly) of all the theatres in New England. (http://
        dorsettheatrefestival.com/)

There's also a handful of apparel manufacturers left in BOSTON who need people who
know their way around a garment.

        Good Luck!

Thank you again for the information - moving is always stressful, but having some ideas and links is really helping releive some of the tension. I don't feel so much that I'm jumping into the unknown.

I should be "up there" (in a place yet to be determined) by the end of March. If any of you are local to "wherever I end up" please feel free to drop by for a cup of tea!
