Re: [TheCostumersManifesto] Digest Number 1095
- Thank you for the suggestions for attaching my bodice and skirt. They have been wonderful! I think I will take the suggestion and keep them separate, maybe hooking it together. Is this period? I know that they were tied or sewn. I am trying to keep this gown mostly period in look. :)
I am sorry that I did not describe the problem clearly. I will add an address to let you see the painting that I am taking the idea off of. http://www.stamaria.com/shared/pulzone.jpg
I was thinking that because of the layers that this stripped garment would be like an kirtle or some such under-dress, and to make traveling and dressing easier. It is made of an light silk backed with a light cotton on the skirt and heavy on the bodice. (I'm allergic to flax) Because of the crispness of the silk I had thought to knife pleat the skirt (also, because the over dress is padded cartridge pleated). As to splitting in the skirt I mean that it is a closed skirt, I did not want a seam center front.
Thank you all again. I love to to read all the wonderful hints, knowledgeable suggestions, and just plain fun comments.
With greatest admiration,
