This is an unofficial announcement that University of Central Florida
Department of Theatre is anticipating a search for a 12 month
full-time Costume Shop Supervisor for active theatre department with 2
resident designers and an Assistant Costume Shop Manager. 10
mainstage productions during the academic year, 4 productions in the
summer. MFA in Costuming preferred, MA in Costuming acceptable with
experience; BA, BFA considered with equivalent professional
experience; experience in university setting highly desirable. Duties
include: Supervision and scheduling of costume build for productions,
cutting/draping, and supervision of wardrobe crews. Supervision and
maintenance of costume shop, costume storage, equipment, and supplies.
Budget tracking for productions and shop supplies. Supervise all
fittings and attend weekly production meetings. Supervise large
student build crews in lab setting. Some evening and weekend duties
associated with rehearsals and performances. No rental program.
Working knowledge in all aspects of costume design and construction
including: period styles, textiles, pattern drafting/draping, sewing
techniques, fitting, alterations, budgeting, and computer skills (PC).
Wig, makeup, and millinery skills desirable. Possible design and/or
teaching opportunities exist for qualified applicants. Permanent

FULL TIME FACULTY/ COSTUME SHOP MANAGER
Marquette University in Milwaukee, WI seeks applications for a full
faculty member/ costume shop manager, for a one year replacement
begin August 15, 2002. Terminal degree required. MFA in Costume
Technology is preferred. MFA in Costume Design with a strong
Technology considered. Duties include teaching undergraduate courses
Costume Construction and Technology, Makeup, and specialty courses as
needed. Also a possibility of teaching Acting for Non-Majors or
Appreciation. Additional duties include draping and supervision of
aspects of costume construction for 6 University productions per year.
Ability to work closely with faculty and student designers to
build possiblities and budget is a must. Also responsible for
costume stock and storage. Active participation in college and
committees as needed. Student
recruiting and mentoring is expected. Design opportunities are
but not guaranteed. Shop has 7 student employees, and student crews
varying size. Show budgets are healthy. Salary $32-35,000 based on
