      > Dear CSA Members and Guests,
      > I’m so pleased to bring you CSA Western’s next program on August 11:
      > Join us at The Autry for the opening weekend of California’s Designing Women, 1896 – 1986. We will have a special curator-led tour and group lunch. The exhibition celebrates the work of more than fifty women designers and entrepreneurs who incorporated the newest styles, materials, and technologies of their time into their work.
      > Spanning almost a century of design movements—from Arts and Crafts to Art Deco to Mid-Century Modern-the exhibition explores how women have taken advantage of the unique possibilities California has offered in the creation of textiles, ceramics, furniture, lighting, graphics, and jewelry. Included in the exhibition is costume that reflects the complex cultural influences that have shaped California living, from the reserved Depression-era clothing of the 1930s to hippy chic and the rock ’n’ roll glamour fashions of the 1960s and ’70s. Your reservation includes lunch.
