- Waco Tribune-Herald Friday, October 26, 2001Leona Kubitza, 89, lived in Bellmead for more than 50 years, died Wednesday, October 24, 2001 in Waco. Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, October 27 at Bellmead Funeral Home with the Rev. Robert Beeman officiating. Burial will be at Oakwood Cemetery. The family will receive visitors from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.Mrs. Kubitza was born on Dec. 22, 1911 in Limestone County, Texas to John Thomas and Sarah Amis Shanks. She married Robert Kubitza on August 1, 1942 in Waco. He preceded her in death on April 27, 1994.She was also preceded in death by her parents, for whom she faithfully cared in their final years; nine broithers and sisters. She was a member of Sparks Memorial United Methodist Church and a self-employed beautician for many years. After woning a beauty salon at James Connally AFB, she operated a shop at her home in Bellmead.Survivors include numerous nieces and nephews.Pallbearers will be Don Bearden, Travis Brown, Daylon Crye and Ron, Roy and James Shanks.In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Sparks Methodist Church, 900 Maxfield, Waco, TX 76705 or Providence Hospice, P.O.
