West, The oldest of 13 children born to Frank and Agnes Gerik Marak,
she moved with her husband and children to Arlington in 1951. As one
of the original members of St. Maria Goretti Parish, she was active
in the Altar Society and subsequent Women's Guild. She was honored as

as "Church Woman of the Year") for 1966. In 1967, she began a short
career in food service for the AISD. It was during this time that she
had the great pleasure of working at Veda Knox Elementary with her
daughter's faculty and "special" fellow students. In her later years,
Edith loved her association with St. Maria Goretti's Leisure Club and
Brown Bag Bunch particularly helping with their annual Bazaar. She
was a member of the KJZT, a Czech fraternal organization, for over 50
years. She was a wonderful seamstress, a gourmet cook, and the best

flower beds and attending daily mass. But her pride and joy was her
family. A special- thank-you to Vitas Hospice Care and Visiting
