obit: Carolyn Davis Mohel
Carolyn Davis Mohel was called home to be with Our Lord and Savior on April 17, 2014.
She was born February 25, 1947 to Joe and Elnora Sundbeck Davis. Carolyn was born in Austin, Texas and lived there until her family moved to Taylor when she was thirteen years old. Carolyn graduated from Taylor High School in 1966. Carolyn met a handsome boy from Granger, named Dan Mohel; they were married February 3, 1968. Then she went to work for the Texas State Highway Department for ten years. She then worked for Taylor Independent School District for more than twenty years, from which she retired.
She was a friend to many and always put others before herself. She was a peace keeper and diplomat. Carolyn was a member of First Baptist Church - Taylor. She gave countless hours as the Taylor High School Cheerleader sponsor for ten plus years. She was a member of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority. As well as an active member of the Young Women’s Study Club and Relay for Life volunteer. After retiring, Carolyn lovingly called Nana, devoted her time to her daughter Dana and son-in-law, Eric and two precious grandchildren Anoa and Cayden.
Carolyn is survived by her husband Dan; daughter Dana Moehnke and husband Eric, grandchildren, Anoa Hines and Cayden Moehnke; her mother, Elnora Sundbeck Davis; two sisters Diann Bice, Laurie Levee and husband John; one brother in law Bob Mohel and his wife Leta; as well as many nephews and nieces.
She is preceded in death by her father, Joe; mother –in- law and father- in- law Ed and Hattie Gaida; brother- in- law James E. Bice, Sr. and nephew, Heath Bice.
Visitation will be Sunday, April 20, 2014 at Providence Funeral Home from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Funeral service will be held Monday, April 21, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. also at Providence Funeral Home and will be officiated by Matt Hudson. Burial will be at Taylor City Cemetery. There will be a reception immediately following burial at the Taylor Mansion.
