Martin Richard Furdek passed from this life Saturday, February 22, 2014 in Lubbock, TX. He was born into this life Saturday, July 17, 1937 to Joseph and Winnifred (DeKalb) Furdek in Cudahay, WI. Martin married Sheila Carter on April 9, 1960 in Market Harborough, Leicester County, England. They had a daughter Kathryn and two sons, Stephen and Richard.
Martin proudly served his country, enlisting in the United States Air Force; he retired, as a Master Sargent, after serving 22 years. During his time in the military, the family traveled extensively. After retiring from the military, Marty worked for Texas Tech University, in Biomedical Maintenance, where he later retired from his work as a Maintenance Supervisor at the University Center.
Outside of work, Marty was an avid Green Bay Packers fan and enjoyed many hobbies, such as bowling, model building, fishing, and being outdoors. He and Sheila were members of the Billy Sims RV Club and rarely missed the Balloon Fiesta in Albuquerque, NM.
Marty was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Joe, Clifford, Clarence, and Robert; a sister, Kathryn, and a daughter in law, Stacy. He is survived by his wife, his children, a daughter in law Ruth; sisters, Patsy, Nancy, and Annamae; seven grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; and two beloved cocker spaniels.
Arrangements were entrusted to Agape Funeral Chapel and Crematory, Lubbock, TX.
