obit: Dora Faye Brockman Fabian
Dora Faye Fabian was born February 9, 1927 in Penelope, TX to Charlie A. and Rachel Kourt Brockman. Faye was the 3rd of 3 daughters born to this couple. Faye died September 26, 2013 in Dallas, Tx. She grew up on farms in Hill County near the towns of Brigman, Birome and Penelope in central Texas near Waco. She graduated from Penelope High School in 1945.
As a teenager she accepted the Lord as her personal savior and was baptized in one of the local "tanks" in the area. Faye along with her family attended the local Baptist church in the area she lived but many times the Baptist & Methodist met in the same church building just alternating Sundays.
Faye spent her teenage years with 4 additional children in her family. Her parents raised 4 of her mother's nieces and nephews when they needed a home. This made for a large family of 5 girls and 2 boys. There were many stories of this big family especially of the 2 boys and how they teased the girls once they started dating.
Faye's grandmother Brockman made her granddaughters a promise if they would not date until they were 16 she would buy them a watch for their 16th birthday. Faye did not date until she was 16 and she still has the watch from her grandmother. This was a treasured piece of jewelry even though it has not worked in years.
Faye and George met in High School but did not date much until he returned from the Navy after WWII. They were married on June 7, 1947 in Penelope, TX and this union was blessed by 4 children, 5 grand-children and 11 great-grandchildren. Faye & George lived their married life in Dallas, TX. They were lifetime members of the Wynnewood Baptist Church in Oak Cliff. Faye was a stay at home Mom but later in life worked at H&R Block Tax Services. Faye and George loved to travel and playing the slot machines at the casinos.
Faye is survived by her husband of 66 years, George Fabian, Son Gary and wife Beverly, of Houston. Son Don and wife Jill, of Ovilla. Son David and wife Susan, of Midlothian and Daughter Malinda Bundy of McKinney. She is survived by 1 sister, Vera Horn of Terrell, and many nieces and nephews.
