      Mrs. Lad Marek, 71 of Placedo, resident of Victoria County for the past 69 years, died at 9:50 p.m. Sunday in a local hospital.

       

      Born Jan. 21, 1894 in New Sweden, Texas, she was the daughter of the late J. H. and Theresa Lesikar Mikeska.  She was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Port Lavaca.

       

      Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at McCabe-Carruth Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Leonard Sweeney, pastor of the First Presbyterian Church of Port Lavaca, officiating.  Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.

       

      Surviving are her husband, of Placedo; a daughter, Mrs. R. E. Wyatl [Wyatt?] of Port Lavaca; five sisters, Mrs.  Annie Shiller and Mrs. Theresa Esterak both of DaCosta, Mrs. Frances Boehm of Placedo, Mrs. Alvina Tillman of Roseville, Calif. And Mrs. Della Plachy of Houston; three brothers, John Mikeska of Placedo, George Mikeska of San Angelo and Frank Mikeska of Kilgore; and two grandchildren.
