      September 18, 1925 - May 28, 2013

Irene (Marecek) Lewallen, 87, died May 28, 2013 after a long illness. She was born September 18, 1925 the daughter of Laddie and Mary Marecek of Rowena. She had one brother, the late Bernie Marecek of Rowena.

On January 31, 1948 she married Marion Lewallen, and the couple was married almost sixty years, when he died in December 2007.

They are survived by two sons, Gary Lewallen of Austin and Robert Lewallen of San Angelo.  Other family members are sister-in-law Lula Marecek of Rowena, nephews Ronnie Marecek of San Angelo, Dan Marecek of Rowena, and Glen Marecek of Midkiff; nephew Larry Farmer of Houston, nieces Merle Damoy of Metarie, Louisiana, and Paula Farmer of Kenner, Louisiana.

She graduated from San Angelo High School in 1942 and then attended and graduated from San Angelo Business College. She was a career secretary, having worked for the Standard Times, for the San Angelo ISD, as a church secretary, and as a medical records secretary.   She was a member of the Episcopal Church of San Angelo since 1960.

To all who knew her, Irene was loving and kind, sweet and good to all, and it was her special desire throughout her life to help and to encourage others. To her sons she was their best friend, their anchor, mentor, counselor, their beloved mother.

Because of a serious illness she fell into a coma in January, and the family would like to extend a special note of thanks to TriSun Meadow Creek nursing home and also to Lighthouse Hospice for their exceptional caring for her during these many weeks since then.

Graveside services at Belvedere Cemetery on Arden Rd. will be Tuesday, June 4 at 2:00 P.M. with J.T. Tucker officiating.
