      A funeral mass for Jerry John Michalec, 79, of Needville, will be held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, September 18, 2013 at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Needville with Father Joseph Phan and Father Lee Flores officiating. Interment will follow in St. Michael’s Catholic Cemetery in Needville.

       

      Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., with a rosary being recited at 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, September 17, 2013 at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Needville.

       

      Jerry was born February 21, 1934 in Shiner to Louis Michalec and Agnes Gebeaur Michalec. He served his country proudly in the U.S. Army and was a deacon of St. Michael’s Catholic Church. He passed away September 13, 2013 at his residence in Needville.

       

      Jerry is preceded in death by his parents, Louis and Agnes Michalec and 7 siblings.

       

      He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Dorothy Michalec; children, Mark Michalec and wife, Jennifer, Tim Michalec and wife, JoEllen, Tom Michalec and wife, Beth and Mandie Michalec; brother, Paul Michalec and wife, Barbara; sister, Caroline Mocek and husband, Eddie; grandchildren, Sarah Horak and husband, Chris, Mark Michalec, Jr., Trenton Kaminski, Megan Kaminski, Joshua Michalec, Kaitlyn Michalec, Morgan Michalec, Andy Smerek and wife, Erin, Dustin Smerek and wife, Paulina and Ashleigh Estes; great grandchildren, Riley Horak, Violet Smerek and Jacob Smerek; along with other relatives and a host of friends.

       

      Pallbearers will include Mark Michalec, Jr., Andy Smerek, Trenton Kaminski, Joshua Michalec, Dustin Smerek and Chris Horak.
