      Services for Joe Frank (Jody) Marinik, 56, will be held at 10:00 AM Tuesday, February 24, 2009, at Scanio-Harper Funeral Home with the Rev. Dr. Phil Shuler officiating. Burial will follow at the Bellwood Memorial Park.

       

      Mr. Marinik died February 20, 2009 at a local hospital.

       

      Joe was born July 23, 1952, in Temple to Joe Marinik and Dorothy Elizabeth Mozley Marinik. He married the love of his life, Janet Lynn McGill, on August 11, 1973.

       

      He graduated from Temple High School in 1970. He received his Bachelor of Business Administration degree from the University of Texas at Austin in 1974 and was a lifetime member of Texas Exes Association and a devoted Longhorn fan. He was also a member of S.P.J.S.T. and St. Paul United Methodist Church.

       

      He had been associated with Centrifugal Castings, Inc. since 1975 and had been president since 1995. He was chairman of the board of directors and chairman of the ESOP committee. He was well respected by his employees for his genuine care and concern for each one of them and their families. Joe was well respected in the business community for his professionalism and management skills.

       

      Joe will be fondly remembered for his zest for life and his unique ability, which he inherited from his father, to amuse people with his funny, personal stories. Fishing, boating, hunting and giving tractor rides to his granddaughter were some of his most loved pass times. He enjoyed spending time at his favorite spot, The Hobo Hut, participating with family at BBQ events, family vacations, and listening to Czech music.

       

      He was preceded in death by his parents.

       

      Survivors include his wife of 35 years, Janet Marinik, a daughter, Christi Jo Wilson and husband Brian of Frisco, a son, Adam Andrew Marinik, of Denver, Colorado, a sister, Jane Ann Kruppa and husband, Leonard of Temple, one granddaughter, Madeline Jane Wilson of Frisco and one grandson, Chase Wilson, due in April. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and a host of good friends.

       

      Pallbearers will be nephews Paul Kruppa (godson) of Houston, Brian Kruppa of Dallas, Scott Kruppa of Conroe. Other pallbearers include Jerry Conner of Sugarland, Kevin Cushman of Temple, Bill Lunsford of Georgetown, Ronnie Kee of Katy and Gary Smith of Temple. Honorary pallbearers include brother-in-law, Leonard Kruppa of Temple, Gary Stehling of Fredericksburg, Platt Turner of Temple and son-in-law, Brian Wilson, of Frisco.

       

      Memorial donations may be made to St. Paul United Methodist Church, 2407 W. Ave. P, Temple, Texas 76504, American Cancer Society, 1311 N. New Road, Waco, Texas 76710 or Martha’s Kitchen, 411 W. Ave. G, Temple, Texas 76504.
