Funeral services were held Tuesday, Aug. 27 for Ferdinand Popp, a resident of the Nada community for 80 (30?) years.
Mr. Popp died suddenly on Saturday, Aug. 24. He was born in Schulenburg on July 7, 1887. He was married to Anna Staff on February 7, 1911 at St. Mary’s Church in Nada. At the time of his death he was 87 years old.
A rosary was recited at Triska Chapel on Monday evening. Services were held Tuesday at St. Mary’s Church at Nada with the Rt. Rev. Monsignor Bernard F. Popp officiating at a Concelebrated Mass with Archbishop Francis Furey and Rt. Rev. Monsignor Gus Staff. Also present were 53 priests and 23 nuns.
Interment was in St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery under the direction of Triska Funeral Home.
Mr. Popp is survived by his wife Anna of Nada; four daughters, Mrs. Gus (Margaret) Swoboda of Nada, Mrs. George (Augusta) Gerberman of El Campo, Sister Adelaide of San Antonio and Sister Anna Marie of Victoria; also two sons, Rt. Rev. Monsignor Ben F. Popp of San Antonio and Joe L. Popp of Nada; four sisters, Mrs. George Boenisch of Garwood and Mrs. Mary Kubesch of San Antonio, Miss Agnes Popp and Miss Elizabeth Popp, both of Nada; also two brothers, Frank and Gus Popp of Nada; fourteen grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Andy Swoboda, Freddy Gerberman, George Gerberman Jr., Benny Gerberman, Wayne Popp and Lawrence Popp.
