obit: Laura Hovda Lednicky
Laura Lednicky, after a long and brave battle with cancer, left this life on August 23, 2013.
Laura was born in Anchorage, Alaska on October 10, 1956.
She is preceded in death by her father Lee Hovda.
She is survived by her loving husband Lynn Lednicky, their two children Nick and Alex, mother, Lily Hovda of Katy, TX, and sisters, Linda Hufford of Cat Spring, TX, and Ann Peltier of Eagle River, AK.
Laura was always known as a warm, friendly, giving, and caring person who was happy to strike up a conversation. Laura worked in the energy industry for over 10 years before focusing her full attention to raising a family. She was a dedicated mother and was active in, and a consistent volunteer for, her children's schools and extracurricular activities. Laura was a generous host, and her home was always open for friends and family alike.
Although her life was cut short, she left an indelible impression on her friends and family, as she set the example for kindness, generosity, affable banter, and fairness.
Visitation will begin at one o'clock in the afternoon on Saturday, September 7, 2013. A memorial service honoring Laura's life will begin at two at the Bradshaw-Carter Home, 1734 West Alabama Street, Houston, TX 77098. A reception will follow immediately after the service.
