Funeral service for Emma Lee Cerveny, 89, Lawton, will be 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, July 2, 2013 in the Becker-Rabon Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Michelle McCarty, officiating.
Mrs. Cerveny died on Friday, June 28 at her home.
Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens.
Emma was born on July 4, 1923 in Thalia, Texas to Joseph and Marie (Stach) Richter. She married MSG (Ret) William Jesse Cerveny on November 19, 1941 in Lawton. He died on September 9, 2010. She served with graciousness as a military wife. She was a patriot who loved her country and was known by her family as the “Firecracker Baby”. She established a principal as follows: No one is better than you are, but also remember that you are no better than anyone else.
Emma was an excellent seamstress who made Halloween costumes for her grandchildren. She was passionate about taking care of people and animals. She was a superior gardener. She was an active member of Lawton Heights United Methodist Church, Volunteers for Animal Protection and the Humane Society. Her family remembers her as a caring and giving angel here on earth.
She is survived by four children, Tony and his wife Lynn Cerveny, Georgetown, Texas, Melvin Cerveny, Nancy and her husband Anthony Zinno, all of Lawton and Lynda and her husband David McFerren, Norman, Oklahoma; four grandchildren, Jesse and his wife Miguela Yoder, Stephanie Yoder, Mitchell McFerren and Taylor McFerren; two great grandchildren, Jeslyn Lee Yoder and Champ Yoder; a step grandson, Adonis Anderson; two sisters in law, Lillian Hicks, Rochester, Texas and Helen Richter, Sinton, Texas; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Her parents, husband William Jesse and her siblings preceded her in death.
