obit: Andy Joseph Leopold Sr.
Andy Joseph Leopold Sr., 82, passed away peacefully, July 12, 2013 at Stevens Convalescent Center, surrounded by his family. He was born on August 31, 1930 to Alphonse & Clara (Bludau) Leopold. He lived his whole life in Hallettsville and was a member of the Knights of Columbus and Sacred Heart Catholic Church of Hallettsville.
Andy will be remembered as Brownie and for his carpentry talents around Hallettsville. He enjoyed being outdoors, family gatherings, going to the deer lease with family and friends, hunting, fishing and playing dominoes. His also enjoyed watching baseball; his favorite teams were the Astros and Rangers. His grandchildren knew him as Pompa. He will be forever loved in their hearts.
Andy is survived by: wife Josephine of 63 years; 7 children, Rebecca Cohen & husband Norm of Atlanta, GA, Joan Polach & husband Bruce of Sugarland, Rose Henneke & husband John of Houston, Barbara Nelson of Richmond, Donald “Chuck” Leopold of Hallettsville, Andrew Leopold Jr. & wife Barbara of Hallettsville, and James Leopold & wife Lisa of Seguin; 2 brothers, Paul & Robert Leopold of Rockdale; 2 sisters, Mary Lee Supak of Hallettsville, and Mildred Bollom of Houston; 11 grandchildren, Jason Bishop, Jennifer Liska (Mike), Erin Bourne (Darin), Amber Kaiser (David), Jeremy Polach, Brittni Nelson, Dillon Leopold (Lauren), Tyler Henneke, Denton Leopold, Daylin Leopold, and Dakota Leopold; and 4 great grandchildren.
Andy was preceded in death by: his parents, brother Alois Leopold, and sister Elizabeth Hermes.
The family would like to offer a special thanks to the Staff at Stevens Convalescent Center and Lavaca Medical Center.
Funeral Mass Service: 10 am, Tuesday, July 16, 2013 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church of Hallettsville. Visitation: 4 pm, Monday, at Kubena Funeral Home. Rosary: 7 pm, Monday, at Kubena Funeral Home. Officiate: Msgr. John Peters. Pallbearer (grandchildren): Dillon Leopold, Denton Leopold, Tyler Henneke, Jeremy Polach, Dakota Leopold, and Gage Nelson. Honorary Pallbearers (granddaughters): Jennifer Liska, Amber Kaiser, Brittni Nelson, Erin Bourne, and Daylin Leopold. Memorials: Sacred Heart Catholic Church or Donor’s Choice. Burial: St. Ludmila Catholic Cemetery, Wied Community.
