obit: Harold "Buck" Kight, Sr. - wife Tobola
Harold "Buck" Kight, Sr. of El Campo died July 6, 2013 at the age of 88. He was born on September 12, 1924 in El Campo to the late Harry and Tillie Schneider Kight. He was a farmer and rancher. He was a 1st Sgt in WWII with the 110th Regimental Combat Unit as a Scout for the 112th Calvary from 1944-46. He served in the Asiatic Pacific Theatre Luzon Campaign, Philippine Islands, and later with the Occupational Forces in Japan, in the disarmament of the Japanese.
He is survived by his wife of 69 years Nellmarie Tobola Kight of El Campo; daughters Diana Tenant and husband Al of El Campo, Donna Swift and husband Larry of Midfield, Darlene Taylor of El Campo, Dorothy Shytles and husband Don of Rockport, Debbie Bubela and husband David, Denise Couey and husband Blair, and Delinda Kight, all of El Campo; sons Harold Kight, Jr., and Dale Kight and wife Jennifer, of El Campo; brother Harry Lee Kight and wife Marilyn of El Campo; sister-in-law Helen Kight of El Campo; 21 grandchildren, 37 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his parents, son Lloyd Alan Kight, grandson Bryan Lee Swift, brothers Arthur and Worley Kight, and sister Alice Morris.
Visitation will be 2 pm to 5 pm Tuesday at Triska Funeral Home. His body will be taken to St. Philip Church at 6 pm with the parish rosary being recited at 7 pm. The Funeral Mass will be 2 pm Wednesday, July 10, 2013, at St. Philip Church with Rev. Michael Rother officiating. Graveside services under the auspices of the American Legion Post 251 will follow at Holy Cross Memorial Park.
Serving as pallbearers are Chad Kight, Dustin Kight, Blair Ross Couey, Tristan Couey, Cash Sebastian, Dean Swift, Jason Bubela, and Nathan Bubela. Honorary bearers are Bubba Dutcher, Justin Swift, Billy Harold Edmiston and Blaine Kight.
Donations in memory of Harold "Buck" Kight may be made to St. Philip School Endowment Fund or Houston-Hospice of El Campo.
