      PORT LAVACA – Funeral services for John Anton Machac, 65, will be held at 4 p.m. Wednesday from the Six Mile Presbyterian Church.  The Rev. Leonard Swinney will officiate with interment being made in the Six Mile Cemetery.

       

      Mr. Machac, a resident of the Six Mile Community for the past 58 years, died Monday in a Corpus Christi hospital following an illness of one month.

       

      Mr. Machac was born in Lavaca County near Shiner on March 28, 1894.  During World War I he served with the Second Army Division in Europe, receiving two purple hearts.

       

      Survivors include two brothers, Frank of Yoakum, Ed of Port Lavaca; two sisters, Mrs. Annie Bombek of Port Arthur and Mrs. Amelia Mikula of Six Mile.

       

      Richardson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
