ALVIN FRANK POPP
EL CAMPO - Alvin Frank Popp, 81, of El Campo passed away on June 30, 2013.
He was born on October 31, 1931 in Hillje, Texas to the late August J. and Pauline Pauler Popp. Alvin was a U S Army Korean war veteran, and a self-employed carpenter and farmer.
Survivors include his wife Henrietta Popp of El Campo, son Dale Popp and wife Linda of El Campo, daughters Debbie Johnson and husband Billy of Crosby, Annette Bittner and husband Paul of Garwood and Dawn Macek and husband Billy of Nada, Grandchildren Dustin Popp, Kim Hadley, Bonnie Galindo, Ami Woodring, Jeremy and Gene Cervenka, Scott and Lance Bittner and Cole and Katie Macek, 13 great-grandchildren, sisters Albina Taylor and husband Walter, Gladys Bodungen, and Janette Wishert and brother Gus Popp and wife Janie Mae all of El Campo.
He was preceded in death by his parents, great-granddaughter Britni Popp and sister Berniece Wishert.
Visitation and Rosary was held on Monday July 1 at Triska Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday July 2 at 2 pm at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Nada with Rev. Joe Vrana officiating. Burial will follow at St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery with military honors under the auspices of American Legion Post 251.
Pallbearers will be his grandchildren. Honorary pallbearers will be his great-grandchildren and godchildren.
Memorial donations in memory of Alvin Popp may be made to V.F.W. Post 2786, Garwood Volunteer Fire Department. Or St Mary's Catholic Church.
