obit: Francis John "Frankie" Vajdos
Francis John (Frankie) Vajdos was born January 4, 1936 to Frank and Emilia Vajdos. After graduating Karnes City High School in 1954 he entered into the Air Force. He travelled the world with the Air Force, but returned to his home in Karnes County after serving his country. He worked for Karnes Electric Cooperative his entire professional career, and he retired as Staking Engineer after 34 years of dedicated service.
He met Clare Marie Polasek from Hobson, and they married on July 30, 1971. They moved to Helena into the house where he spent the remainder of his days. They filled this house with children whom he loved so much, but nothing brought him more joy than the sight of his eight grandchildren.
He was a man of great faith, proudly serving Saint Helena's Catholic Church for 42 years and was a founding member of the Helena Catholic Men's Club. He led his life by example, a testament to hard work, true friendship, family loyalty and above all else, faith in God.
He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Clare Marie, his son, Michael Anthony Olmstead, his daughter, Lou Ann Vajdos, and by his brother Benjamin Vajdos.
He is survived by his children Julie (Joe) Metzger of Odom, Cindy (Pat) McCord of Pflugerville, Laurie (Randy) Kotara of Falls City, Mary Kay Duff of Yorktown, Scott (Lisa) Vajdos of Pearland and Kristi (Jeremiah) Cooper of Elgin. He is also survived by his grandchildren Aaron Metzger of Pittsburgh, Jaime (Marcus) Yasamatsu of Hawaii, Megan (Brian) Doan of Pflugerville, Luke Kotara of Falls City, Keira and Connor Vajdos of Pearland, and Joshua and Noah Cooper of Elgin. He is also survived by his sisters Mary Mihalko of San Antonio, Theresa Belcher of Karnes City and Cecilia Vajdos of Karnes City, and by his brothers Fabian (Marian) Vajdos of Agua Dulce, Casper (Edna) Vajdos of Floresville, Jerry Vajdos of Karnes City, Mike (Kay) Vajdos of Schertz, and Pat (Joni) Vajdos of Luling.
