      Wilma M. “Granny” Zhanel, age 82, passed away in Ennis on December 4, 2012. She was born on May 25, 1930 in Ennis to Frank J. and Janie (Lanicek) Prachyl, and married Leslie Zhanel at St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church on June 10, 1950. She volunteered at Helping Hands, worked for Story’s manufacturing for many years, and retired from EISD; loved playing chickenfoot; and she loved her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Wilma was a member of KJZT, Catholic Daughters, and Golden Crusaders.

       

      She is survived by her husband, Leslie; her children, Steve Zhanel and wife Barbara, Doris Luck and husband Eddie, Mark Zhanel, and Gene Zhanel and wife Tammy, all of Ennis; 11 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; brother and sisters, Lewis Prachyl and wife Sara of Ennis, Adele Meyers of Maryland, and Georgie Nekuza and husband Raymond of Ennis.

       

      Wilma was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Janie Prachyl; 2 sons, Richard Zhanel and Dennis Zhanel; sisters, Helen Prachyl, Emily Valek, and Janie Patak; and brother George Prachyl.

       

      The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 P.M. with a Rosary at 7 P.M. on Thursday, December 6, 2012 at the Boze-Mitchell-McKibbin Chapel in Ennis.

       

      Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 A.M. on Friday, December 7, 2012 at St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church with Father Fred Caldwell as celebrant. Interment will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery with pallbearers: David Zhanel, Mark Zhanel, Jr., Brian Zhanel, Bradley Zhanel, John Zhanel, and Christopher Zhanel; honorary pallbearers: Alan Bohanon, Joe Roznovsky, Chris Rebuck and Chad Parma.
