      In Memory of

      Sharon Zapalac

      July 30, 1944 - August 12, 2011

Sharon Zapalac passed away August 12, 2011, at the age of 67 at home in Smithville, Texas.

Sharon was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in String Prairie, and was always a very spiritual person. It was her strong faith that sustained her through the last couple of years as she battled cancer. While her health deteriorated her spirit of fun and zest for life were always present.

Sharon found her soul mate and partner for life, Steve Zapalac also of Smithville, at the age of 15. They were married on October 15, 1962. The couple celebrated with two ceremonies, one in Vicuna, Mexico and then at St. Paul's Catholic Church in Smithville, Texas. The couple renewed their vows several times over the years in honor of the love they shared for each other. Together they founded Zapco Paper, where Sharon devoted most of the last twenty years building a successful company that is filled with people she loved and considered family.

Sharon is survived by husband Steve Zapalac and their three sons, Steve (Coey) Zapalac, Shawn (Jennifer) Zapalac and Shannon (Callie) Zapalac, all of Smithville; brother, Yerger (Anne) Hill III of Austin, Texas; and sister, Diane (Terry) James of Smithville. Sharon has nine grandchildren; Kristin Zapalac, Blakelee Saunders, Lane Saunders, Mary Claire Zapalac, Grant Walker Zapalac, Kennedi Zapalac and Victoria Zapalac. Sharon is also survived by her cousin Grey (Pam) Hill, of Smithville, Texas.

Visitation is Tuesday August 16th from 6:00p to 8:00p with Rosary at 7:00p at Marrs Jones Funeral Home in Smithville. Funeral services will be held at St. Mary's Catholic Church, String Prairie at 10:30a, Wednesday, August 17, 2011, followed by burial at Oak Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are requested to the American Heart Association.

Arrangements under the direction of Marrs-Jones Funeral Home, Smithville, TX.
