      Johnnie A. Zak, 78, of Hallettsville, passed away Dec. 6, 2012. He was born on Nov. 3, 1934 to John & Albina Woytek Zak in Lavaca County, Texas. He married Helen Galetka on Oct. 29, 1960 at Vsetin Czech Moravian Brethren Church. He serviced active duty in the US Army in the late 50’s, member and Board of Elders at Vsetin Czech Moravian Brethren Church, and member of SPJST #4.

       

      Johnnie is survived by: 2 daughters, Kathleen Smolik & husband Melvin of Hallettsville, Jean Wick & husband Edward of Weimar; son John Zak & wife Anita of Hallettsville; 9 grandchildren, Tucker, Trevor, and Tracie Smolik; Samantha, Molly, and Amy Jo Wick; Claire, Emma, and Cal Zak; and sister Leona Miculka & husband Milton of Hallettsville.

       

      Johnnie was preceded in death by; his wife Helen; daughter Arlene (Zak) Koehn; parents; brother Vernon Zak.

       

      Funeral Service: 10 am, Wednesday, Dec. 12, 2012, at Vsetin Czech Moravian Brethren Church. Visitation: 4 pm, Tuesday at Kubena Funeral Home in Hallettsville. Prayer Service: 7 pm, Tuesday at Kubena Funeral Home. Officiate: Rev. Mark Labaj. Burial: Vsetin Cemetery. Memorials: Vsetin Czech Moravian Brethren Church or Donor’s choice.
