obit: John Zabojnik
John Zabojnik, 88, passed away at his home in Red Oak, Texas Thursday, December 22, 2011.
John was born in Telico, Texas, to John P. and Aloise (Pavalick) Zabojnik on October 25, 1923. He grew up in Telico and attended school there. On August 28, 1948 he married Ann Kostak and they made their home in Dallas, then to Wilmer and then to Red Oak. He served his country proudly in the United State Army during WWII in the Pacific Theatre. He worked for Certainteed for nine years and for Occidental Chemical for thirty-one years in the maintenance department. He was a member of the St. John Catholic Church, St Francis Catholic Church, he was a social member of KJZT #16, he was an associate member of KJT of Ennis and Dallas, and was a member of the Golden Crusaders. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening and making wine.
He is survived by his wife: Ann Zabojnik of Red Oak; sons: Jimmy Zabojnik and his wife, April of Lancaster, David Zabojnik and Tom Zabojnik both of Red Oak; four grandchildren: Johnny and his wife, Windy, David, Chad and Kameron; one great granddaughter: Madeline; one brother: Bobby Zabojnik of Ennis and four sisters: Margie Zabojnik of Ennis, Louise Slovak of Ennis, Frances Chudej of Dallas and Della Kubacek of Ennis.
He was preceded in death by his parents, five brothers, two sisters and two grandsons, Austin and Zackary Zabojnik.
Visitation will be on Monday, December 26, 2011 from 6 until 8 p.m. with Rosary at 7 p.m. in the J.E. Keever Mortuary Chapel of Ennis. Mass of the Christian Burial will take place on Tuesday, December 27, 2011 at 10 a.m. in St. John Catholic Church of Ennis with interment to follow at St. Joseph Cemetery under the direction of J.E. Keever Mortuary, Inc.
