obit: Gordon Zavodny
Gordon Zavodny, 64, of Baytown, departed this world after a long, courageous bout with cancer on Friday, March 1, 2013. He was born June 18, 1948 in Baytown, the only child of Edmund Joseph Zavodny and Elda Dancak Zavodny.
He was a lifelong resident of Baytown, member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, graduate of Robert E. Lee High School Class of 1966 and earned an Associate's Degree from Lee College in management.
Mr. Zavodny was a retired maintenance supervisor from Brown and Root after more than 25 years of service and after retirement he became a certified home inspector.
Gordon's interests included fishing, hunting, traveling, gambling and he was an avid reader. He will remain an inspiration to those that knew him.
Survivors include his loving wife of 30 years, Barbara Zavodny; loving children, Stacy Zavodny of Atascocita, Jason Zavodny and his wife Jessica of Mont Belvieu and Matthew Zavodny and his wife Londa of Caldwell; step-daughters, Donna Woolsey and her husband Doc of Mont Belvieu and Cathy Loftin of Baytown; grandchildren, Dillon and Mason Zavodny of Mont Belvieu and Katlyn Zavodny of Caldwell; step-grandchildren, Chase and Ashton Woolsey of Mont Belvieu and Aubrey Loftin of Baytown; cousins, Gary and Cheryl Boehme and numerous other relatives. Above all, he will be missed by his four-legged friend, Sascha.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Monday, March 4, 2013 at Navarre Funeral Home. A graveside service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, March 5, 2013 at Memory Gardens with Rev. Nancy Simpson officiating.
Pallbearers will be Jason Zavodny, Matt Zavodny, Gary Boehme, Jeff McManus, Dustin Smith and Jarrod Boehme.
