obit: Dennis "Danky" Novosad
Dennis (Danky) Novosad, 79, of Crosby, passed away on Thursday, January 31, 2013.
He was born in Baytown on September 22, 1933, to Paul Peter Novosad and Clara Julie (Hlanak) Novosad. Mr. Novosad was a 1951 graduate of Robert E. Lee High School. He attended the University of Texas in Austin and also proudly served his country in the United States Army. He retired from DuPonte as a payroll supervisor. Mr. Novosad was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council 10875 in San Augustine, Texas, and KJT in Baytown. Besides his family, he enjoyed fishing, gardening and cooking.
Preceded in death by his parents and brothers, R. C. and Birnie; Mr. Novosad is survived by two brothers, L. J. Novosad and wife, Sue, and Michael Novosad and wife, Diana; three sisters, Patsy French, Jeannette Holmes and Sherry Cook and husband, John; numerous nieces and nephews; and many other loving friends and family members. The family would like to give a special word of thank you to Mr. Novosad's caregiver, Mary Pelage, for her ongoing kindness and professional care during his last years and also to Deacon Archie Benham and Father Arnel Barrameda for their many visits and ongoing prayers.
The family will receive friends from 6 – 8 p.m., with a rosary at 7 p.m., on Monday, February 4, 2013, at Crespo & Jirrels Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, February 5, 2013, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 915 Runneburg Road, Crosby, with Monsignor Fred O'Connor as celebrant. Burial will follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery. Honoring the family as pallbearers will be Mr. Novosad's nephews, Dennis K. Novosad, Bryan Franta, Zekie Novosad, Kenny Holmes, Ralph Holmes and Mark Novosad. Chris Novosad, Kyle Holmes, Shawn Holmes, Matt Novosad and Stephen Novosad will serve as honorary pallbearers.
