JD Baethe, loving father, grandfather and great grandfather, passed away Saturday, March 9, 2013, at the age of 92. He was born on the family farm in Waller County, Texas on Sunday, April 18, 1920, to parents Herman Baethe, Jr. and Annie T. (Repka) Baethe.
Discharged as a Tech Sergeant in December of 1945, JD was very proud that he served his country in the United States Army Air Corps. He was a member of the S.P.J.S.T. Lodge #88 over 59 years, the Sons of Hermann Edelweiss Lodge #4 for 40 years, and the United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners of America, Local #551, for more than 50 years.
JD was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 53 years, Joyce Hanson Baethe, who passed away on Friday, July 9, 2004. He is survived by son, Jay Scott Baethe and wife Beth, and daughter, Judy Baethe Schuhmann and husband Glenn; grandchildren, J.D. Schuhmann, Melissa Baethe Chiles and husband Jeff. Also surviving JD are three great grandchildren, Jack, Leo and Ayden, his lodge brothers and sisters, dear friends and neighbors of many years.
Family and friends will gather at a visitation for JD from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Thursday at Waltrip Funeral Directors, 1415 Campbell Road in Houston, where funeral services will be held in the chapel at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, March 15, 2013. Privately at a later time, JD will be laid to rest next to his wife Joyce, at Brookside Memorial Park Cemetery, also in Houston.
