Charley Zavesky Sr., 76, father of Mrs. Marshall (Mary) Windham of Columbus, died Dec. 7 in Renger Memorial Hospital in Hallettsville. He had been ill for some time.
Services were held at Sacred Heart Church Dec. 8 with The Rev. Stanley Petru officiating. Interment was in Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery. Kubena Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Rosary was recited at the Kubena Funeral Home Dec. 7, by the parish and in the Sacred Heart Church Wednesday, Dec. 8 by the societies.
Mr. Zavesky, who had retired some time ago, had been a barber for almost half century. He owned Charlie’s Barber Shop. He was a member of the Hallettsville Knights of Columbus and the SPJST Lodge.
He was born Oct. 28, 1900 in Moulton and married Miss Pauline Maresh June 12, 1922. He also was a sign painter and loved baseball.
In addition to his daughter, he is survived by his wife; a son, Charles J. Zavesky of Hallettsville; his mother,f Mrs. Rose Zavesky of Hallettsville; 3 brothers, Joe and Johnnie Zavesky of Runge and Victor Zavesky of Bishop; 3 sisters, Mrs. Mary Videk of Floresville, Mrs. Beth Posse of San Marcos and Mrs. Stella Migl of San Antonio; 8 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Danny Zavesky, Randy Zavesky, Ricky Zavesky, Terrel Windham, Henry Schneider and Larry Solansky.
