      ENNIS, Texas -- Anton Zhanl, 68, a farmer in nearby Creechville Community, died Wednesday in his home after a long illness.

       

      A native of Czechoslovakia, Mr. Zhanl moved to Ellis County in 1901.

       

      He is survived by his wife, five sons, five daughters, two half-brothers, a half-sister and 24 grandchildren.

       

      Rosary will be recited at 8 p.m. Thursday in the Keever Funeral Chapel, Ennis.  Requiem mass will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. Friday, in St. John's Catholic Church, Ennis.  Burial will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery.
