Sealy . – Anna Marie Zapalac 5, and her 3-year-old brother, Sylvester Jr., suffocated Friday in an old refrigerator in a storage room of their home on Hwy 90 a mile east of Sealy.  Their mother, Mrs. Sylvester Zapalac, found the children about 3 p.m.

State Highway Patrolman Ed Michalke and Henry Brune, administered artificial respiration for about 35 minutes but were unable to revive them.

The children’s father was out of town at the time.

The children apparently had been playing near the refrigerator with their year-old brother, Mike, Austin County Deputy Sheriff Ernest W. Snitkin said.

Accidental death was ruled by Justice of the Peace Leonard Hintz and Dr. Victor Gordon of Sealy.
