obit: Julius Wanek
GREENVILLE, Texas, Jan. 15.-- Julius Wanek, 79, Greenville violin teacher and composer, who taught at several Texas colleges and was a charter member of the Texas Music Teachers Association, was found dead at his home Thursday. A physician said he had died in his sleep several hours earlier. He had resided here thirty years.
Funeral services will be held here Friday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock and burial will be in Forest Park Cemetery. Members of the Knights of Pythias Lodge will have charge of rites at the grave.
A native of Merkowitz, Mahren [Moravia, in the Czech language], Germany, Professor Wanek was trained in the outstanding music conservatories of Europe, was graduated from the Royal Conservatory of Music in Vienna and also Kullak's Royal Conservatory of Music in Berlin.
Surviving are his wife and five children, Mrs. Arthur Lynch, Julius Wanek Jr. of Greenville, Mrs. Charles B. White and Mrs. Walter Gamblin of Dallas, and Mrs. Luster Wise of Dekalb.
