obit: Sovola "Dude" Ables Valenta
EL CAMPO – Mrs. Sovola “Dude” Valenta, 70, of Hammond Ind., a former resident of El Campo, died Tuesday in a Hammond, Ind., hospital.
Born May 16, 1909, in Alabama, Mrs. Valenta was a resident of El Campo for 40 years and was owner-operator of Elco Café for many years. After the death of her husband, A. A. Valenta, six years ago, she moved to Hammond to be with her daughter.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Triska Funeral Home in El Campo, with the rev. Marcus Valenta of Praha officiating. Burial will be in holy Cross Memorial Park.
She is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Albin “Jimmie” Sadler of Hammond, Ind., her father, James A. Ables of Groveton, Texas; five sisters, Mrs. Bonnie King of Houston, Mrs. Shirley Wallace of Beaumont, Mrs. Emma Stewart of California, and Mrs. Bernice Stevenson and Mrs. Dimple Deaton, both of Groveton; three brothers, Calvin Ables of Tomball, and Warren and Robert Ables, both of Houston; five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
