      Oliver Victor Wishert, Jr., 79 of El Campo, passed away on March 31, 2013. He was born on October 18, 1933 in Wharton County to the late Oliver George Wishert, Sr. and Mary Hermis Wishert. He was a U.S. Army Veteran, retired appliance repairman, a member of St. John's Catholic Church and Knights of Columbus 2490.

       

      He is survived by his wife Bernice Popp Wishert, daughters Becky Wishert and Doug Koudela, Brenda Tompkins and husband Scooter, sons Doug Wishert and wife Kimberly all of El Campo, and Chris Wishert and wife Sandra of Nada, grandchildren Clint Wishert, Kayla Novak and husband John, Kylie Wishert, Linda Tompkins, Jr. Tompkins, Marla Tompkins, Rhys Kennedy, Spencer Wishert, Tate Wishert, great grandchildren Kenna, Kendal and Keely Novak. He was preceded in death by son Dan Wishert, infant daughter Lynda Kay Wishert and brother Leon Wishert.

       

      Visitation will be on Tuesday from 2 pm-5pm at Triska Funeral Home. A Rosary will be held at 7 pm on Tuesday at St. John's Catholic Church in New Taiton. Funeral Services will be held at 2 pm on Wednesday, April 3, 2013, at St. John's Catholic Church in New Taiton with Rev. Gabriel Oduro Tawiah officiating. Burial will follow at St. John's Cemetery with military honors under the auspices of American Legion Post 251.

       

      Pallbearers are Jr. Tompkins, Clint Wishert, Rhys Kennedy, Spencer Wishert, Tate Wishert, Bobby Wishert, Johnny Wishert, Donald Priesmeyer, Travis Clark and John Novak. Honorary pallbearers are Mike Daughtery, Ricky Clark, Allen Schertz, George Flores, Jeff Pfiel, Slade Mitchell, Spencer Mitchell and all nieces, nephews and godchildren.

       

      Memorial donations in his memory may be made to the St. John's Altar Society or St. Philip's School Library.
