Rose Ann Junell Havel, daugther of Francis and Clara Doerfler, passed away on March 26, 2013 after a long life.

She was born on February 6, 1923 in El Reno, OK.

She was preceded in death by her parents, sister Adeline, brothers Harley and Wilbert, daughter Deborah Clare, son Donald Richard, sisters-in-law, Eva Doerfler and Margie Doerfler, brothers-in-law James Rihn and Charles Havel, and mother and father-in-law Joseph and Vera Havel. She was also preceded in death by extended family members, Clint and Dorothy Lininger.

She is survived by her loving husband of 68 years Frank, sons Dennis and wife Elizabeth, Darrell and Dean, sister Leola Doerfler, CDP, brothers Robert, Frank, Anthony and wife Martha Lou, Msgr. Marvin Doerfler, Walter and wife Barbara, sister-in-law Blanche Rihn, daughter-in-law Pam Havel-Moser, daughter-in-law Deborah Richmond and her son Evan. Surviving grandchildren include Alyssa Hedge and husband Chris, Bryan and wife Lorena, Jamaiya James and husband John, Mia Pitts and husband Jeff, and Aaron Richmond- Havel. She attended St. Mary's Downtown School and was a member of the staff after high school graduation teaching dance and physical education. She met Frank while working at Bob Fletcher's Ice Cream Parlor in San Antonio. They married in 1945 and lived in NYC while he continued his military service during WWII, then moved back San Antonio to be with family and start one of their own. As a charter member of St. Mary Magdalen Catholic Church, she was active in the parish Alter Society, parish choir, PTC, and the Catholic Daughters of America. She and her husband were long time members of the Rose of Sharon Catholic Family Guild where they made lifelong friendships with other guild members. Her love of singing was realized as a member and past president of the Sweet Adelines International local chapter. A notable accomplishment was assisting her brother Msgr. Doerfler, then Director of St. Peter's and St. Joseph's Children Home, with formation of an annual fund-raising fashion show. After raising five children, she and Frank enjoyed life at Canyon Lake for 35 years and were parishioners of St. Thomas Catholic Church.

In celebration of her life, services will be held on Wednesday, April 3, 2013 at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, 600 Oblate Drive, San Antonio, TX 78216, with visitation at 9:30 a.m. and the Rosary Prayer and Holy Mass following at 10:30 a.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in her memory to a cancer or heart charity of your choice.

Special thanks to her caregiver, Ms. Beatrice McCumber and the nurses and staff at Odyssey Hospice and Cardinal Senior Care.
