obit: Rebecca "Susie" Pavliska Blubaugh
Rebecca “Susie” Blubaugh, 57, passed away on January 19, 2013, at her home in Centennial, Colorado, in the company of her loving family. She fought a long and courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. Her inspiring strength and undeniable spirit moved all who knew her.
Strength and spirit have been Susie’s trademarks, as well as her unbelievable smile, since her birth on December 27, 1955, to Joe and Pauline Schwertlich Pavliska in Floresville, Texas. She was the fifth of six very close and loving siblings. This is where she developed and became the nurturing and family-oriented woman she was. She seemed to be able to pull the best quality from those around her. She would credit her mother and father, her sisters, Polly and Liz, and her brothers Joe, Bob, James, and Jeff for the values and lessons learned at a young age – just like her to not take the credit.
She is survived by her husband of 33 years, Richard; children Mason, Ryan, and Launa; grandchildren Bohden and Catelyn; siblings Polly Bayer (Bob), Liz Bielefeld (Erich), Joe Bob Pavliska (Laura Lea), James Pavliska (Leysa), Jeff Pavliska (Carol); numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great nephews; and one great-great-nephew.
A memorial service was held at Horan and McConaty Funeral Home in Denver, Colorado, on Friday, January 25 at 11 a.m. A memorial service was held on Saturday, February 2 at the SPJST Lodge 107, Floresville hall at 11 a.m.
Susie was a member of SPJST Lodge 107, Floresville.
