      Julie Ann Steffek, 6, & Rebecca Ann Steffek, 9, of Hallettsville, passed away March 21, 2013. Julie was born on June 23, 2006 in Yoakum, and Rebecca was born on Sept. 22, 2003 in Yoakum, to Ray A. & Michele Mills Steffek Jr. Julie and Rebecca went to Sacred Heart Catholic School in Hallettsville, Julie attended first grade and Rebecca was in third grade.

       

      Julie was baptized on July 8, 2006, and Rebecca on October 26, 2003. Rebecca received first Holy Communion on May 2012 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church.

       

      Julie and Rebecca were tomboys who loved the outdoors that included hunting and fishing. They enjoyed wearing pink and dressing up with jewelry and bows. They were aspiring cooks who helped their grandmother Virginia Steffek make pecan pies. They would tell each other how to roll out the pie dough. Rebecca & Julie played school with Rebecca being the teacher and Julie the student. Rebecca wanted to become a teacher and Julie a cosmetologist. Julie fancied combing her Barbie doll’s hair.

       

      Julie and Rebecca are survived by: their parents Ray A. & Michele Steffek Jr. of Hallettsville.; 3 brothers, Andrew & William Watson of Hallettsville and Michael Torres of Yorktown; sister Heather Torres of Yuma, AZ; grandparents, Raymond & Virginia Steffek Sr. of Hallettsville, and Peggy Grove of Michigan; and numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and extended family.

       

      Funeral Mass Service: 2 pm, Monday, March 25, 2013, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Hallettsville. Visitation: 4 pm, Sunday at Kubena Funeral Home. Rosary: 7 pm, Sunday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Hallettsville. Officiates: Msgr. John Peters and Rev. Tommy Chen Memorials: Sacred Heart Advance Learning Center Building Fund, or Donor’s Choice. Burial: Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery
