      Biography

      James was born on May 16, 1929 in Sugar Land to parents Jim P. and Hermina (Kadlecek) Vavrecka. He was baptized at St. Theresa Catholic Church in Sugar Land. He attended and graduated from Sugar Land High School in 1947. He was employed by Exxon from 1948 until his retirement in 1986. James served in the United States Army from 1951 until 1953.

      James married Bernice Hauerland on May 4, 1958 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Sealy where he was an active member. He was also a member of the American Legion Post #442 and the Exxon-Mobil Annuitant Club.

      James Vavrecka, a resident of Sealy, Texas since 1959 died December 25, 2011 in Katy, Texas.

      James is survived by his wife, Bernice of Sealy, daughter, Jana Schmidt and husband Brad of Katy, grandsons, Trevor William Schmidt and Tanner James Schmidt of Katy, nephew, Alan Steel of Sugar Land, niece, Ashley Gonzales and husband Steven of Pearland and other relatives and friends.

      Preceded in death by his parents, Jim and Hermina Vavrecka, sisters, Clara Vavrecka, Olivian Horak, Patricia Vavrecka, Cheryl Steel and husband Paul.

      Memorial Contributions may be made to the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church Building Fund or Immaculate Conception Cemetery, P.O. Box 337, Sealy, Texas 77474 or to the charity of choice.

      Serving as pallbearers are Brad Schmidt, Eric Stuessel, Johnny Caskey, Jonathon Hauerland, Steven Gonzales and Alan Steel.
