obit: James Richard Vesely
James Richard Vesely, born November 4, 1937 to Millie Virginia Roznovsky Vesely and James Frank Vesely, went to join the Lord on August 12, 2002 at the age of 64. He was preceded in death by his baby daughter, Rita Patrice, as well as his parents.
He was a 1956 Graduate of Roy Miller High School. In September 1956 he joined the U.S. Army and was on active duty for 6 months, completing Military Police Training in March 1957. His unit was dissolved so he joined the Army Reserves until 1964, receiving an Honorable Discharge and achieving the rank of Staff Sergeant. James was a hard working Jack-of-all-Trades, very knowledgeable in the fields of mechanics, carpentry, plumbing, electrical, and cooking. During his "earlier years" he was known as "Happy, Jr.", where he worked for his father's company "Happy's Washer Repair Service." In High School he worked as a Hop Boy on his father's milk route. He later began working as a Millwright for 32 years for Vauter Door Company, formally known as Hawn Sash and Door Company, until it closed. Then he worked at Best Woods until his massive stroke on New Years Day 1992 which confined him to a wheelchair. He was a very generous man who attempted to help everyone who crossed his path. His good traits and strong character
have been passed down to his children and they are living proof of those qualities.
James was a very loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, and brother, survived by his wife of 29 years, Dolores Elizabeth Petru Vesely. His children: Elizabeth Kathleen Vesely, Richard John Vesely (Katrina), Robert Anthony Vesely (Zonia). Two grandchildren: John Alexander Vesely and James Owen Vesely, all of whom are from Corpus Christi. His only sister, Emily Elizabeth Vesely Petru of Northbrook, Illinois and a paternal aunt, Frances Dudzynski of Corpus Christi.
The family wishes to thank the doctors that have helped him over the years: Dr. Glenda Peters-Do, Dr. William Shaffer, Dr. William Burgin, Dr. Miguel Puig. Special thanks to all the nursing staff, especially 3 East, and therapists from Spohn Shoreline and the Nurses on Wheels.
